Monitor not working while CPU is on...

I juz bought a new CPU, I tried to turn on the CPU with my previous monitor connected but the monitor doesn't work (screen remain black & the power light off),
the CPU power light & keyboard number light are on. I tried my monitor on other CPU & it works.
I wonder what is the problem here, can anyone please help me?
