Hey there vishala,
What operating system does the laptop have? Does the screen show the cursor or not?
Firstly, take out the battery and unplug the charger. Then, press the power button and hold it for about a minute in order the electricity to discharge. After that, plug the battery and power cord back in and try to boot the lappy. Tell me what happens.
