There is a secret button in Gemini AI that makes its answers funnier!
A persistent researcher has unveiled a hidden option within Google's AI Gemini: the chatbot is able to deliver "funnier" responses. Learn more about what he's done and how it went.
Gemini is an AI assistant, a multimodal large language model developed by Google DeepMind, serving as the successor to LaMDA and PaLM 2. It can help users to start writing, planning, learning, and simply discussing any subject.
A diligent researcher and a computer scientist, Twitter user @ugu_rs recently made a fascinating discovery within the intricate framework of Google's AI Gemini, uncovering an intriguing option that bestows the chatbot with the ability to dispense "funnier" responses. Delving into the depths of Gemini's HTML code, the researcher stumbled upon a clandestine button, well-concealed until now, that triggers the generation of more amusing answers: "Interestingly, if you go ahead and take a look at the HTML of the Gemini page, you will find a hidden button for funnier responses. Exploring this option, I wanted to check if it is indeed funnier." he said.
As it stands, Gemini already boasts a feature known as "Change Answer," letting users tweak the chatbot's responses according to their preferences. This versatile tool enables users to adjust the length, tone, and formality of the chatbot's replies, offering a spectrum that spans from straightforward to elaborate and from casual to professional.
The recently unearthed button, however, introduces a whole new dimension to Gemini's capabilities. The researcher, intrigued by this hidden gem, embarked on a series of tests to demonstrate its functionality. By activating the mysterious option, a prompt was issued to Gemini, nudging it toward a more humorous repertoire.
The researcher shared a hint to initiate the process, and Gemini responded with an answer that reflected the newfound comedic flair. Well, it's up to you to decide, whether the AI has a sense of humor or not yet...
This is what the researcher has asked Gemini:
And here's what the AI answered:
Could be worse, right?
Removing the style makes the option visible:
And after the removal of style, AI suggests to modify the response and shows the existing options:
After the manipulation, Gemini produced another answer:
"It seems like Saturday Night Live screenwriters can live for a while without the fear of being replaced by AI" said the author of the research, computer scientist and Twitter user (@ugu_rs).
In November 2023, Ilon Musk's xAI launched Grok chatbot for a limited audience. The AI can make jokes and recognize users' humor.
