YouTube Music Lets You Create Your Own Playlist With AI

YouTube is currently testing an AI Radio feature that will allow users to create custom playlists.

AI is everywhere nowadays, you can do so many things with it. It can help save you time, help with you with productivity and more. YouTube Music is now adding new AI features, one of which will help you curate playlists and another will change how you search for music.

Recently, a YouTube Music user discovered an exciting upcoming feature in the app: a new tab titled "Ask for music any way you like." Until now, to search for an artist, song or playlist, users had to manually enter the name of the song or artist, this feature allows users to bypass these traditional manual searches. Instead, users can simply use voice commands to describe what they want to hear.

This new system creates personalized radio stations based on user prompts. By entering a description of their musical preferences or desired mood, the app generates a dynamic playlist that evolves over time, providing a fresh listening experience. Users can browse, play, and save these custom playlists.

Accessible through a dedicated tab on the Home feed, this AI-driven feature supports both text and voice interactions, enabling users to explore diverse musical prompts or opt for surprise recommendations. Although still in its experimental phase, the AI aims to refine its accuracy and maintain a steady stream of fresh content.

So how do these new YouTube Music AI features compare with Spotify? YouTube Music generates personalized radio stations based on user prompts and allow for voice-activated searches, offer a dynamic and evolving music discovery experience. In contrast, Spotify relies on AI to curate static playlists like Discover Weekly and Daily Mixes, based on user listening habits.

While YouTube Music focuses on interactive, real-time customization, Spotify excels in providing consistent, personalized recommendations through its established playlists and voice assistant integrations. The choice between the two platforms depends on whether users prefer evolving, prompt-based discovery or reliable, habit-based recommendations.
