Indestructible Cybertruck? Here's How It Held Up in a Real Accident

Did you think the Cybertruck was unbreakable? Well, that might not be exactly true.

When Elon Musk introduced the Cybertruck in 2019, people were struck by its futuristic design, looking like something straight out of a video game. Built with an exoskeleton made from ultra-hard stainless steel panels, Musk claimed it was "virtually indestructible." He even touted its 'Armor Glass,' supposedly a bulletproof material that wouldn't shatter easily. However, during the live presentation, a steel ball thrown at the windows broke two of them, putting the "indestructible" claim in question.

Despite these hiccups, and multiple production delays due to alignment issues and other assembly challenges, the Cybertruck has still been marketed as one of the world's toughest vehicles. In addition to its sturdy frame, it was designed for rough terrains, promising the capabilities of a true off-roader.

Recent photos from a crash reveal that the vehicle sustained significant damage, showing that even its "virtually indestructible" frame has its limits: a real-world accident in Guadalajara, Mexico, offered a new look at the Cybertruck's durability. The crash occurred early on November 2, with the vehicle reportedly speeding at the time of impact. Inside were four passengers; three sustained minor injuries, while a woman was ejected from the vehicle and is in critical condition. The crash left the Cybertruck overturned, missing tires, and with significant damage, exposing its interior—a stark contrast to the "indestructible" image Musk painted.

After news of the accident spread, Elon Musk shared a post on X (formerly Twitter): "Wow, I have no idea what the person driving this Cybertruck in Mexico was doing, but whoa, this crash is insane. Everyone in the Cybertruck survived! If this doesn't prove how safe Teslas are, then I don't know what will."

This real-world accident has left many questioning the Cybertruck's durability and safety. Far from emerging unscathed, the vehicle was visibly damaged, challenging its image as the ultimate tough vehicle. For some, it's a reminder that even the most advanced designs have their limits.
