When you created the account, did you register a secret question which you remember, or an alternate recovery email address or phone number to which you have access to receive a reset code?
When is the last time you successfully accessed your account?

I know the password to my account, but it's asking me to verify myself through a recovery account that's either been compromised or I've forgotten the password to. Worse yet, Yahoo offers no direct customer service support...something I find mind-blowing for such a large and long-standing company. Is there ANY way around this whatsoever???

OhBrother,
Did you know that Yahoo now belongs to Verizon?
Did you know that if Yahoo had a direct customer service support they would need to employ at least 30,000 employees and yet they could not handle all the calls, many of which would be frivolous?
All I can say is that it's a pity you forgot the password to your recovery email which is probably inactive. You can blame Yahoo for they had a way to recover your account's password.
