3 beeps

Hello Sir,

I just got a DDR2 desktop from my friend, with no ram. when i turn on the desktop i heard 3 beep sound, i recognize that i need to insert ram. But before buying a new ram i just want to know, if CPU sounds 3 beep then the problem with ram, But does it means processor, motherboard are in perfect condition, because i dont like to waste my money on old model desktop.
