Hang everytime and problem in hard disk

Hello,
My pc has 2gb ram and 1.6 ghz processor....initially my pc run smoothly though it has 2 windows installed...but now it does'nt work smoothly it run so slowly and hang ....and it also take so much time to start.....and there is 1 more problem its hard disk do not respond in 5 to 6 startings then it suddenly works.....i m not able to understand this......plzz help me

Hi

First try to delete all of your temporary files and cookies and, after, defragment your hard disk.
