My PC is unable to read my SD card

Hello,
I am not able to see the sd card in Windows - This PC - windows 8 OS. I connect the mobile phone with a USB cable and unable to see the sd card. Tried uninstalling windows 8 and did not work and changed the USB cable and did not work and is very irritating. I need to copy all the photos into the Phone storage and then copy from phone storage to PC.
mobile stops working properly and fades off during the course of time.
Please suggest remedy.

Hi,
Why don't you try to connect SD card of your mobile with the help of card reader, might be there is something wrong with your mobile. I believe extracting a memory card from the phone and connecting it with the card reader may help you and make your device visible in the system.
