Recovery process ...What if you don't see the Dell Logo on screen when you power up in order to follow the CTRL plus F11 protocol. What then? Are there other problems with the laptop..ie.motherboard,hard drive ect.?
Thanks

Hello Wayne

I suspect have a huge problem.

I assume that you wish to restore you lappy to factory settings. Even if you succeed, you will get in all kinds of trouble because XP is no longer supported. To repair the system, you would need a recovery CD, which you may have created in the past. The installation of XP sp2 and sp3 is a must and they are no longer available.

If you can't boot from the recovery disk, if you do not get a response after pressing alt+ctrl+del to get to the task manager, I am afraid that your hard disk is damaged. Is it worth the price of the laptop to replace it?

Good luck
