Gmail account recovery is not working

I can't access my gmail and I have tried me recovery email and although it confirms it is the right one, it won't let me recover. I am trying to gain access back, forgot the password, don't have a phone or device registered because this account was made a long time ago and the recovery email gets the code sent but after it says it can't be confirmed that the account is mine. It isnt inactive; I as logged in on my phone which broke and now with the new one, I cant access it! HELP! My school and personal stuff is in there and I cant get it!

Unfortunately, if, when you created the account, you have not registered an alternate recovery email address or phone number to which you have access to receive a reset code, you cannot prove that you are the account's legitimate owner. Hence account recovery is absolutely impossible and there is no way around it.

Well, see, that's the thing. I did register an email address. When recovering, it shows partially and it asks to type it (If the wrong one is typed it tells you), it confirms it is the correct one, sends me the code, I type it back in there and then it says it cant confirm the email is mine. Gmail should seriously have an easier contact team to assist in issues like these.

Try to send an email to the address your are trying to recover, wait 30 minutes and tell me if it bounces back.

Nothing... seems ok. It is so weird because it does confirm that I have the correct recovery email, yet it shows "Google can't confirm this account is yours." I would forget about it but all my school stuff is in there and some personal too. That's the one email I use for everything!
