The screen kept freezing, so one day I went to task manager and I saw 100% disk usage. After that screen froze and I had to shut it down. When I open it back the laptop did a diagnostics and a repair on its own. Then it restarted and it just show a blank screen with a loading symbol.
I left it on for 4 hours, but it still show a loading symbol.

I have a HP windows 10 laptop

What is the problem and what do I do? Is there problem with hard drive?
There was no clicking noise that indicate hard drive failure.

Is laptop overheated?

HOw long have you had 10, and did you buy the machine with 10 on it? You may be dealing with pesky updates, and on 10, depending on the version, can take 100% of the disk, and spend 3 days doing it!

Jason,

Mark (as usual) is correct. Do you think that your laptop had all of the requirements to update from Win7 to Win10?

What are your laptop's specifications?

Also here, if Mark will agree, we may be looking at a hard disk failure.

Hi Jason

You wrote: " laptop did a diagnostics and a repair on its own." Then you got a blank screen. It looks to me as a hard disk failure. I suggest that you have it checked out by a qualified technician.

Please let us know.

Turn it on, and leave it on. If you can get a NUMLOCK light to respond while it is on, its not hung! Does the BIOS POST?
