SD card stopped showing up on the phone

HI.
Please can any body help?
I have a Samsung S8 & use a SD Card. recently whilst on holiday the card stopped showing up on the phone. When I got home I put it in the PC (win 10) & it don't show up on that either. most forums say about formatting it, but how can I when you can't see it on the pc.
really need the pics from it as my mum in-law has early vascular Dementia & has some nice pics for my wife on there with her looking well.
I had an app called Open photo which I downloaded whilst on hols & took 1 pic on it then deleted the app, was wondering if that might have caused it?

I'm afraid that the card has been damaged. Unfortunately SD cards cannot be repaired.

sow no way of retrieving photos. not even if I go to a specialist

You can always go to a specialist but I doubt it. I assume that your SD card was made by a reputable manufacturer.
