Have tried your suggestions and nothing worked. Sometimes it's a capital E thing and sometimes it's two. tried the num lock, scoll lock and alt. shift. language settings looks okay.
Anything else?

Hubby's going crazy on this one.

Did you try an external USB keyboard?
