Itunes 8 udating problem

Hello,
i need to delete the apple updater but it wont let me delete it even from the control panel,i need to delete it becuz i have to download the latest itunes and it wont let me unless i delete it,i just got my ipod touch and i really want to use it

plz help me

I am sorry to tell you that it's important to have apple updater... else you won't be able to update itunes!!

To use itunes it should update regularly as well as to update your ipod!

its says it the old updater cant be deleted when i try to get the latest version of itunes,there for i tred to delete it
