Hi all,

I'm going to start my summer term in India this year and I'm trying to take care of everything until I get there.

So one problem I noticed, I've been there on vacation last autumn and couldn't make full use of my phone. Online-function worked, the apps all worked, I had a prepaid card and everything, but the call function didn't work. I only tried to make a phone call on one-two occasions, but I got some kind of error beeping.

I use a Wiko Ridge 4 (had no other problems so far). Someone said to me it might be faulty electronics, but I didn't have any problems once I left the country, so I'm wondering if I might need some special adjustment for the phone to work abroad? But why India, I took the phone to China once and it worked there as well.

Maybe someone has an idea what's the problem here?

Cheers,
-P

Hi P,

I've seen news online that India doesn't allow all frequencies to be used freely and that they need to be registered or something, so maybe that's the reason. Check
https://www.rcrwireless.com/20190726/5g/indian-carriers-may-boycott-5g-spectrum-auction-report
for some info on hte issue.

Also you can check https://www.certification-india.com/en/wpc/what-is-wpc/ for the regulations.

Hope this helps.
