Problems with my monitor

Hello,
I have been having issues with my computer monitor going black when I try to the newest Adobe Reader and also yesterday, I tried going past the Welcome screen for Internet Explorer 8.0 and the moniter went black, but the computer was still reading.
What can I do about this issue? I have Windows XP as my OS.

Hye you can do a system restore on your machine!!

Press Start, All programs, Accessories, System Tools
Select System restore,

Choose a date when your pc was running normally
Let the process to be done
Restart your computer!
