Why does Facebook not update my feed even though my friends/groups are posting?

For a while now my feed barely updates no matter how often my friends or liked groups post content. it's getting really annoying only being able to scroll for 20 seconds before hitting yesterdays posts.

recently it has gotten ridiculous. on any given day I should have 50+ new posts showing up in my feed minimum but instead i'm only shown 5 or 6 then I hit yesterdays posts. what's annoying is the fact that I can search up pages and I can see that they have been actively posting all day but for whatever reason it isn't getting through to me.

a few years ago I could kill time by scrolling through my news feed for 30 minutes without coming across an old post, now I can't even do that. has anyone had the same issue?

You are right. It is really annoying to live with old feeds, There are two things you need to check to solve this. in your phone there is a synchronization option which synchronize all apps up-to date. if this option off for Facebook, then it will not update feeds actively. In second case some mobiles, when they connect to mobile data internet they also do not update feeds but when they connect to Wifi internet they synchronize and update all apps
