Gmail needs cleaned out Closed

Question

Is there anyway to clean out my gmail quickly but keep important things. There is a lot of things in my gmail that I think should have went straight to junk or spam but did not. Any suggestions on how to clean this fast and easy? I have about 5900 emails in it. 
I also have the same situation with my comcast email account that needs cleaned out fast and easy if possible. I have 3500 emails in it.

Hi,

You can use keywords and search operators in Gmail's search box to filter messages to be deleted. It is possible to filter the messages by sender, subject, terms, etc. Here are search operators you can use.
