About Gmail Id

Hello,
Sir,
i have been trying to create a new gmail id with my name. but it shows that the id is not available. i used to create loads of ids when i was new to the www. now i dont remember if i have created a gmail account, with either gaurav.modi@gmail.com or modi.gaurav@gmail.com, and forgot the password. I wanted to know if there is any way to know if someone is using these id's now. and if not then how to recover the password of these id's because i dont remember the answer to the hint questions. neither do i remember the date of creation.

please help me.
