Restoring old WhatsApp backup

Hi there guys.

Today I was looking through my files and found a backup from 2016. I was ecstatic, looked up how to implement it, and of course it didn't work because why would anything ever.

The files I have are from SD card-databases-whatsapp

The names are as follows:

messagestore.db.w.1455177304191.bak
messagestore.db.d.14566510351138.bak

How the hell do I activate them on whatsapp? I tried renaming it to msgstore.db.crypt12, delete all other backups, even the google drive one, and it still wouldn't recognize it. Do you guys know a way?

Hello, have a look at the second section in this article on how to restore old messages on WhatsApp, this should help.

If that doesn't work, have a look at WhatsApp's guide on restoring chat history.
