My Samsung tv has a muting banner in bottom right of the screen it will not go away even when I have sound and volume used to display and now it doesn’t. Mute button works on remote but notification stays there no matter if it’s muted or not.

Hi,
Does your Samsung TV is actually connected to external speakers?
If so, go to Settings > Sound > Speaker Settings and set the option to use your external sound system and make sure the TV's internal speakers are disabled.
If this is not the case, check if your TV is not in demo mode. Go to Settings > General > System Manager > Usage Mode and select Home mode.
If the settings don't match, you may find similar options for your TV. Otherwise, please confirm your Samsung TV's model.
Good luck
