Hi,
In your Yahoo Mail box, click the Settings icon > More Settings.
Next, select Vacation response and turn it off.

Thanks but when I try to sign into the old account it says “This has been deactivated due to inactivity” and when I try to use the same old account name to re-register, it says “this account is not available for sign up, try something else”

Try with the Sign-in Helper to confirm if your account can be recovered or not. You just need to enter your Yahoo email address.
Also, I don't see why they still receive an auto reply. You set the auto reply in the deleted account, right? Now your senders should normally send you an email to your Ymail account directly? If so, they should not receive an auto reply, unless they still try to email you to your deleted account.

The old account is closed and no longer accesible.

You can wait until the account is permanently deleted from Yahoo's servers, or reactivate the account by signing in, turning off the auto reply and deleting the account again.
