Help I cant connect to internet explorer...

Hello, up until about 5 days ago I was able to turn on my computer and double click on the e and boom I was on the internet. The only way I can get on now is by google crome. I am not even able to run norton360 either. I use my computer for email and college. What can I do??? This is an urgent matter.
