New HP vista laptop wont connect to Belkin

Hello,
I just bought a brand new HP pavillion laptop with vista. it will connect to my router (excellent strength) but will not connect to internet. ping tests show sent=4 received=4 lost=0 so i dont know what could be wrong. My toshiba laptop with xp had no problem connecting to internet but vista for some reason isn't connecting? Please help. Thanks.

hi there,

go to device manager and check if the proper drivers are installed

then go to your router setting and disable wep

this should work
