Do I have a virus

Hello,
I was using my laptop and a rectangle (yellow) said I need to purchase anti spyware and now I cant go on the internet it is saying I have 168 viruses. Please help. McAfee is trying to charge me 89.00 to fix the problem and they were the ones monitoring my computer. Thanks for any help. Does this mean someone has all my info and how do I get rid of this problem without loosing all of my data?
