Laptop crashed NEED help (windows HP vista)

Hello,
It turns on and the loading screens come on but It wont boot It just goes black I am on a desktop and Would appreciate any help on fixing the laptop.The battery works but is not in it because it doesnt hold a charge. PLEASE AND THANK YOU.....

Dear Sir,

Just remove the battery for some minutes,

Plug it back and plug in the charger

Then power on the laptop

If the problem persists, please use the recovery disk to solve this problem

Ive tried that. I dont know where the disc is the laptop is NOT mine it is my aunts Im am trying to fix it for her. I should also say It DOES NOT let me into system restore to restore it that way. So I NEED help step by step to fix it
