Hello,
Just curious about if I have a printer setup on one computer connected to the network and it is shared - will that computer have to be consistently on in order for anyone else to print in the household?

Yes the computer will have to be on,

Considering you used a Usb/Parallel interface printer
When another computer on the network prints some data it have to use the spooler on the computer to which the printer is attached,

If you want to have an avaible printer without have a pc switch on all day long, you should consider dedicated network printers, those printers connect directly on a LAN network

hi there,

yes it must be always on

unless you put a print server

and configure it with an ip address

so that everyone can access it anytime

Thanks

thanks for that - was thinking the same, but just to be sure
as it's a wireless printer, but now that you mentioned it - of course it must need a spooler
i'll hook it up to the server then...

Cheers fellows!
