connecting it to a pc and sharing it has the drawback of that the computer that has the printer on needs to be on all the time for the printer to be accessed.
the other option involves attaching a USB to ethernet print server to your printer and the printer can then be connected to your LAN. this way any of the computers can printo it without the need for another computer being on. they range from quite reasonable to sickeningly high. but the reasonable priced ones are ideal for home use.
there is a similar product for printers that have a parralel port as well.
