Hello,
I recently purchased a acer aspire one aod250 netbook for my girlfriend. I know there are unsecured wireless networks in range in a couple different places I have been with it, yet it will not show up under the available wireless networks. It is running off of Windows XP home and it has the Atheros AR5007EG wireless network card in it. At our house it is not a problem as we run a secured wireless network, however at school they run an unsecured network which you have to connect to then sign in using a web based utility. It did not work from the time we got it, I have uninstalled mcafee and installed AVG. I have windows firewall installed but have it shut off so it couldnt be that causing the problem

Any ideas on how to enable the unsecured networks for us to connect to.

Thanks for the help

hi there,

it may be that the networks are down

or disabled by administrators

or other secure connection

like the network is shown only those enabled by mac address

as you mentioned at home its working so the laptop

is good and problem is with the the network

Thanks

Thanks
