I have tried that and now I get this tbr:res?id=tabs&rep=1 when I click to open a new tab.
Any other suggestions is like the files is missing to run tabs. I upgraded to IE8 but same thing so dont really know not a computer person as in how it runs etc. I just type..lol Appreciate your suggestions.

ie8 multi tabs not working _ shows blank
go to run command prompt and type:
regsvr32 urlmon.dll
sometimes "during updates" if a restart is missed important files do not get registered
running this command makes sure all updated files are registered
if you get an error message about a corrupt file you need to re-install ie8 or the update that is corrupt
could be harder to find the corrupt patch or update so re-install would be fastest
maybe by now ms has an patch lol

Hi just getting back to you now. I have tried this and I get the message that it succeeded. How do I go about uninstalling IE7 and uploading it again do I go into remove programs? It was preloaded into the laptop when purchased. I have uploaded to Ie8 but it didnt help tabs still not working and I actually prefer IE7. Thanks again
