New hard drive will not pick up modem

Hello,
i have recently bought a new harddrive brand new and nothing whatsoever wrong with it. the only problem is that i have plugged my modem in and nothing is happening... is there some kind of options i should be running throught to help my new harddrive pick up the modem... modem works fine with old harddrive... please help me :)

have you installed the modem drivers/software for your modem on this new drive?
