Can not reboot hp desktop with vista

hello, i have a hp desktop with windows vista on it. When i turn on the computer it goes to the configuring updates screen but it never finishes updating. It just stops and then starts all over again. I tried to restore facotry settings but it wont let me. I hit the F8 but and it said i need to reinsert the windows vista disc. What should i do?

of you have the recovery disk then insert it

or press F11 for emergency recovery
