Just in case, check to see if you have Spyware Blaster installed. It is an excellent program. However, the newest version has a TOOLS, FLASH KILLER check box. If you have this program or one similar to it, make sure the box for Flash Killer is UNchecked. Note this also tells us that there is a 'Kill Bit' for flash player. Maybe someone smarter than me can tell us where to look for such a 'KIll Bit" & fix it. Maybe some other program or web site has activated this same Kill Bit? This only affected IE8 on my Windows7 x64 system. Firefox worked just fine. Hope this can help someone.
