Can't find all my files!

Hello,

well basically i have encountered a problem regarding my compaq PC xp sp2.

Well basically i had faced this problem before but managed to get my documents back.

the problem was that the computer kept restarting into the boot screen and then i was unable to even enter safe mode thus i went to do the compaq recovery because the last time i did that i managed to get all my files back because it was not deleted and had to to the enter safemode and change the control and all that to get it back.

but this time after doing the recover, the HD space was back to as when i just bought it (different from the previouc recovery) and not i cannot find any more of my files and documents in the computer.

so pls pls help me with it as i really need those files and pictures back as it really dates back to quite a while back!
