Problem opening word 03 files with word 03...

Hello,
I'm having a problem opening a word document after i have created it. I plan on rebooting my computer soon, so i havent worried to much about the problem, and am currently using word-pad as my document-creator (Microsoft freeware= wierd) but my word 03 seems to have stopped working. It gives me a message when i try to open any and all word docs, the message is "the file is unavailable". I've reinstalled, scrubbed registry, but to no avail. Any ideas?
