WIndows LIVE MESSENGER email

Hello,
Since I downloaded the last version of WINDOWS LIVE MESSENGER, when I click on the small envelope to open my emails, WLM opens the hotmail page in a opened IE page I was maybe working on .... white in the previous version it used to automatically open the email page in a new window.
I am not interested in using outlook to check my hotmail messages, I would just like the mail to open in a new explorer window when I click on the envelope ..... how can I fix this problem? It has been bothering me for months!!!!!!
