Hello,
I have just received an ipod as a gift, i have tried to download itunes several times but i keep getting a download error.. stating( This installation package can not be installed by the windows installer service. you must install a windows service pack that contains a newer version of the windows installer service). I have no idea what that means.. Though i seems like a pretty straight forward command.. i don't know what a windows installer service package thingy is... what do i need to do or where do i need to go to get this taken care of?

yes. Operating system means like Windows XP, Vista, ME, 2000 or on a mac… it would be Mac OS 10.3 (Jaguar), Mac OS 10.4 (Tiger), Mac OS 10.5 (Leopard), Mac OS 10.6 (Snow Leopard). Mozilla Firefox, Windows Explorer, Google Chrome, and Safari are web browsers.

You probably need Service Pack 3

Service pack 3 is not a system requirement for iTunes 9. The most you need is service pack 2 for both Vista and XP.
