Hello, My Pc had vista on it, it stopped working and i decided to just go back to XP as I prefered it anyway, however sincei nstalling XP I realised I can't get sound. It is saying it can't find my audio deivice. I'm Assuming I have to download a driver but i have absolutely no clue which one. I'm not surehow to check which sound card i have the computer is a Packard Bell.

You can download Belarc Advisor - it should ID your sound card.

Look in the Multimedia section.
My computer lists this chip
Realtek AC'97 Audio for VIA (R) Audio Controller
You then need to go to the manufacturers web site to download a new driver.
Good Luck

The sound chip must not be in the list of devices that Belarc can detect. There are new generation sound chips that do NOT have Windows XP drivers. This is a common problem with laptops that are downgraded from VISTA to XP. The solution might be to upgrade to Windows 7.
