MSN Messenger troubles

Hello,
Hi, I am having great trouble signing into msn messenger lately. I go through the normal process during sign on, it seems to do the normal thing, then it just stops trying and takes me back to the initial sign in screen.
When I have checked the connection through troubleshooter, it says that I have an invalid IP.
Can someone please help me with how to rectify my problem??!!
