Trying to pull up a file!!

Hello,
i need some help!! i try to go into My Doc. and pull up a file. when i click on the file i get a message that says "this file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action." what do i do????

You get this message when the " file extention" ( the .doc or .txt at the end of the file name) is not understood by your computer. What is the extension of your file?

a .doc file requires Microsoft Word or OpenOffice programs. You can download a Word reader program FREE from Microsoft that will allow you to view the file but, not change it.

OpenOffice is a FREE alternative to Microsoft Offfice and work GREAT.
