well im using windows xp .
as for the highlight thing you can turn it off by going to the task bar at the bottom of your screen .
right click it and select properties .
something well come up saying ( TASK BAR AND START MENU PROPERTIES ).
click ( THE START MENU TAB and SELECT CUSTOMIZE ) .
then another screen well come up and its called ( CUSTOMIZE START MENU ) .
then the tabs are ( GENERAL and ADVANCE ) .
select ADVANCE
and then go to the ( THE START MENU SETTING )
if there is a check mark in the ( HIGHLIGHT NEWLY INSTALLED PROGRAMS ) uncheck it then click OK window well close .
the click APPLY and that's it should go away .
