Cant change date format to yy/mm/dd

Hello,
I have an excel spreadsheet that I need to convert mm/dd/yy to yyyy/mm/dd. Have tried all the givens, but nothing is working, I am not the author........

Cant change date format to yy/mm/dd

Go to format cells and enter the format as yyyy/mm/dd and use format paint from that point

Sorry after fter going to format cells go to custom tab and there enter this format yyyy/mm/dd
