Acer 8100 new hdd password problem

Hello, I have changed the hdd in my acer travelmate 8100. The old had no passwords set at all.
The new insists on changing the hdd password from clear to set. My backup dvd wont load says I have wrong drive. My recovery disc bombs out half way through and a full Win XP disc stops after trying to load keyboard layout file. Any Ideas?

hi there,

go to bios and load factory default setting

save and exit setting and restart from recovery disc

Thanks Dancedhall - I have tried that and still the same. The drive is now not recognised in bios so maybe I need to get another?
