Hi Sandy
Try booting into safe mode
Restart your computer keep jabbing at the F8 key after a while a menu should appear asking you if you want to start the computer Normally, Safe Mode, and a few others.
Select Safe mode when the user selection screen shows up select the Administrator account and not your normal account.
Once you are in safe mode you should be able to restore your computer back to a previous time.
If it works you have been lucky 6 times out of 10 System restore will not work especially if you have been attacked by a virus or something.
