Hello,

I recently received a desktop from someone and I am have a hard time finding out what the problem is.... Please help.

When you start the computer all is well at first, logo, user screen, the the desktop wallpaper will appear . The start menu flashes then goes away, no icons will appear at all. CTR+ALT+DEL will come up but the task manager button can't be clicked... So that is out. I tried starting in safe mode but the apologize for the inconvenience, but window did not start successfully screen comes up. I'm out of ideas.... please help!

You will need to re-install Windows from the beginning. Or do a repair/install you will find instructions at this site http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm

I do not have the xp cd that came with it. Know of anything I can do?

You will need to take it to a repair shop and have them back-up your data and re-install Windows.
