Well looking at the spec the alpha dog has a core clock speed of 675MHz where as the BFG has one of 625MHz. The rest of the card is pretty much identical.
I just got myself a zotac 8800GT which has a core clock speed of 660MHz and only cost £75 deliverd from ebuyer. Unfortunately I think they may be all sold out now.
