Hello,

I've gotten Windows 7 Home Premium as a gift for Christmas, altough, since i have Windows XP, I have to back up my file, so I went out on boxing day to get an external Hard Drive to do so. After using the easy backup software from the Microsoft website to back up my files, I started to install Windows 7, on the first try, it ran smoothly, no problems at all, until the end of the installation, my PC rebooted for the third time to complete the installation, I had gotten the Black Screen, so it restored everything back to XP, I tried for the second time, same thing again. I tried changing the VGA ports, no luck. I'm running on only one screen.

PC Specs:

Upload Rig
Manufacturer:
Dell Inc.
Processor:
Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.40GHz (2 CPUs)
Memory:
1022MB RAM
Hard Drive:
246 GB
Video Card:
NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GT
Monitor:
Plug and Play Monitor
Sound Card:
SigmaTel Audio
Keyboard:
USB Root Hub
Mouse:
USB Root Hub
Operating System:
Windows XP Home Edition (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 3 (2600.xpsp_sp3_gdr.090804-1435)

Notes: The same thing happens if I install the latest Video Drivers for my graphics card, after the reboot, the screen goes black after the loading screen. Any help with that also, would be good :)

Thanks.

I have this fixed now,

it was infact my graphics card, it wasn't compatible with windows 7.

For anyone who has this problem, either get a new graphics card OR disable your card, mind you can't use aero and most of the features until you get a compatible card.

Hope my answer helps anyone else.
