Memory card error

Hello,
I have a canon powershot A530. Never had a problem until today when I got a memory card error. The card locked and I unlocked it. Worked ok for a little bit, but not at all now. My computer is not uploading or importing the pictures. I cleaned out the camera with compressed air (the kind you use on your keyboard) and also the sd memory card. Can I get my pictures from my card or are they lost? If I get another memory card, will the same thing happen because of a problem with the camera? Thanks to anybody who might help!!
