Connectivity between laptop to desktop over c

Hello,

I have connected my laptop and desktop with crossover cable and configured the ip address,netmask and workgroup ( common).
laptop( 192.198.0.1) desktop(192.198.0.2)

ping from laptop ot itself(192.198.0.1) desn't work.
ping from laptop to desktop works fine.
ping from desktop to itself works fine.
ping from desktop to laptop doen't work.


I want to share some of the files over desktop onto laptop.

but I am not able to connect from desktop to laptop.

Please help me how I can resolve this problem.

normally it should work fine so what i would advice you is to try to change the cable and see what happens

sometimes your firewall does this. Try turn it off, then retry.
